TAPP Signs Letter in Support of Intellectual Property Day 2024

Today is World IP Day 2024—the annual celebration of the importance of intellectual property rights. To celebrate, TAPP has signed onto a letter with twenty-two other leading and diverse organizations to celebrate IP and its role in supporting jobs, innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.

According to the letter:

  • The U.S. IP system drives economic growth, accounting for $7.8 trillion in GDP (41% of total GDP) and more than 47 million jobs. Direct and indirect employment in IP industries accounts for 44% of U.S. jobs.

  • IP-intensive industries create high-paying jobs. Average weekly-wage earnings are 60% higher than earnings in other sectors.

  • The economic contributions of the 127 industries that depend on IP – including patents, trademarks, and copyrights – must be recognized, valued, and celebrated.
